We’ve always been told to eat our greens, but why? What makes lettuce, spinach, and other leafy greens so good for us?

In short – they are low calorie, high fiber, and bring along some vitamins – especially vitamin K.
Insoluble fiber from these greens helps clean out your gut like a brillo pad, and keeps things moving. This is important for a healthy diet. But greens don’t bring many macronutrients (carbs, fats, proteins) to the table, so you need to round out your diet with other foods that offer these key building blocks.
Unless your Dr has you on a low fiber diet then feel free to chow down on leafy greens.
